Bouncer shot outside entertainment outlet in Penang - The Sun Daily

GEORGE TOWN (Aug 9, 2013): A 43-year-old nightclub bouncer was shot in the left thigh in front of a nightclub along Jalan Datuk Keramat here at 12.50am today.

Several missed shots had been fired prior to that.

Northeast district police chief ACP Gan Kong Meng said the victim was with his friend when the incident happened.

He said the two turned around when they heard the shots and were shocked to see a man pointing a gun in their direction.

They tried to escape when one bullets struck the victim in the left thigh.

Gan sent a text message to the media stating, "The suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle while the victim was sent to the Penang Hospital where he is reported to be in a stable condition."

Gan said the police have recovered seven bullet casings from the crime scene which will be sent for forensic analysis.

He said investigations showed that the victim did not have any previous criminal records but was a member of a local triad.

He stated that the police are looking into the motive behind the shootings and are investigating the case under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.

This is the third shooting incident in Penang since Thursday when a 37-year-old man was shot dead at a traffic light junction and when six shots were fired at a house smashing the windows but injuring no one.
