Jakim officers killed in road accident laid to rest - Sin Chew Jit Poh

KUCHING, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- The remains of four Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) officers who died in a road accident near Sri Aman about 200 kilometres from here yesterday, were laid to rest today.

The body of Sarawak Jakim deputy director, Ibrahim Hailee, 35, was buried at the Sibu Muslim cemetery after Friday prayers

Minister in the Chief Minister's Office (Islamic Affairs), Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman, Nangka state assemblyman, Dr Annuar Rapaee and Sibu Malay Community head, Temenggung Wan Hamid Edruce were among those present at the funeral.

In Kuching, the body of Halimah Hamrie, 30, was buried at the Samariang Muslim Cemetery here while the body of Harliani Hanani, 29, was laid to rest at the Serian Muslim Cemetery, about 60km from here.

The body of the fourth victim in the accident, Qurratu Aini Rolfandy, 23, arrived at her birth village in Sarikei before being buried at the Sarikei Muslim Cemetery.

In KUALA LUMPUR, Jakim staff extended their condolences to the families of the officers killed in the accident.

Its director-general Datuk Othman Mustapha in a statement said they hoped the families will have the fortitude to weather the sorrow that befell them this holy month of Ramadan.

"Let us all pray their souls will be among the pious and those injured will recover quickly," he said

He added that Jakim also wished to thank the Sarawak Federal Secretary and all involved including from the Royal Malaysia Police, Fire and Rescue Department, hospitals and other agencies for attending to the victims.
