MMEA Operation Not Affected By Lkim Jetty Boat Fire - Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- The fire that razed several of its boats two days ago, does not affect the overall operation of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).

Its eastern region enforcement chief, First Admiral Datuk Nasir Adam, said this was because only two of its boat turned to ashes in the 7pm fire at the Malaysia Fisheries Development Authority's (LKIM) jetty.

"Actually, there were five MMEA boats at the jetty when the fire broke out, but only two were burnt down, while three others were saved by the firefighters.

"The incident will not affect out operation because we have many other boats," he told Bernama when contacted here today.

It was reported that four boats belonging to the MMEA, together with four fishing boats, were razed in the fire at the jetty on Wednesday night.

Nasir said the actual cause of fire and was being investigated.
